Plans progress for long-awaited new graveyard in Annaghdown

PLANS for a long-awaited new burial ground in Annaghdown have moved a step closer with planning permission being sought for the development.

The current graveyard, located along the L-21174, has had no new plots available for burials for many years. Locals had hoped to see the facility expanded, but due to the significant archaeology in the area, this was not deemed possible.

The proposed new site will cater for the needs of the community by providing 255 double plot spaces, 20 single plots and 40 urn plots. On-site car parking and an access road are also proposed.
