'Back to the skills of the game'
SHANE WALSH is a major fan of the new suite of rules introduced to Gaelic football. And why wouldn’t he be? Galway are Division 1’s market leaders with 20 successful kicks from outside the 40-metre arc in their four matches.
Back to form approaching his best, the 31-year-old is also the National Football League’s most prolific two-point shooter. Walsh's total is now 12 following his four first half efforts, three from play, when backed by a gale whipping in from the Árus Bóthar na Trá end against Donegal on Sunday.
“I love it, it is great,” said Walsh when asked about the enhancements. “It’s back to the skills of the game. You are seeing a lot more lads go one-on-one, seeing lads side-stepping and taking shots on. For me growing up that is what I believe football is all about and got you playing. That is why I love it. Keep feeding off that, because that is what we want to see.
