NO cash will be taken at Galway GAA grounds.

No cash - entry to Galway GAA games now cashless

Tap facilities, tickets in SuperValu and Centra

EFFECTIVE from early this week, Galway GAA are no longer taking cash for entry to its club games.

Speaking to Herald Sport, Galway GAA Chairperson Paul Bellew said that contactless card payment facilities will be in operation at grounds. Tickets can also be bought - using cash or card — at Centra and SuperValu outlets in advance of matches.

Data shows that approximately 75 per cent of tickets have been bought online in Galway in recent years, and Bellew is advising patrons to purchase via that route.

“You can tap at grounds, but we're encouraging people to go online. The links to tickets are well distributed out there," said Bellew.

This weekend will be the first test of the newly rolled out process with a bumper crowd expected at Tuam Stadium for Sunday's Galway Senior Football Championship semi-final double-header.

Several other high-profile games are scheduled including the Senior Football Championship relegation final, as well as four Intermediate quarter-finals in Tuam, Spiddal and Ballinasloe on Saturday.
