Exhibition showcases community education at its socio-cultural best

SNAPSHOTS of how people in rural areas of Galway enjoy combining learning new skills and making new friends form a colourful photographic exhibition that opened in Tuam last week.

The large photographs show groups from different parts of Galway and Roscommon taking part in a variety of activities and classes run with the support of the Galway Roscommon Education Training Board (GRETB).

Representatives from some of the local groups who have been involved attended the official opening of the exhibition at Tuam Library, where it will be until lunchtime tomorrow (Thursday October 26).

Community Education Officer with GRETB Sheila Holland Fox said they wanted to showcase how community education works directly with local community groups.

The short courses and activities are non-acredited and are organised on feedback from what people in an area would like…
