Over 1,500 flock to Fleadh in Dunmore this weekend
Ceol agus craic for lively sessions
MORE than 1,500 musicians, singers and dancers will converge in Dunmore this weekend to compete in the Galway County Fleadh.
It’s ten years since Dunmore hosted a fleadh and there will be plenty of ceol agus craic from May 19 to 21 throughout the town — day and night.
One of the organising committee Marie Howley told The Tuam Herald that the community and local businesses have really rallied behind the event.
The acclaimed Mulcahy Family from Limerick will perform at the official opening concert on Friday night in the Town Hall at 8pm.
Mick, Louise and Michelle Mulcahy play a dazzling array of instruments between them. The talented musicians from Abbeyfeale were awarded the prestigious Gradam Ceoil TG4 2023 and have toured extensively throughout Europe, America, Asia, New Zealand and Australia.
Four local world championship Irish dancers from the Turley Duggan Academy will showcase their talents as the opening act and Dunmore musician Michael Howley will recite the ballad of Piper Reilly…
