Tuam meeting hears from angry sheep farmers

SHEEP INDUSTRY leaders are calling for a payment of €30/ewe for farmers under the Sheep Improvement Scheme in order to help make the sector a viable enterprise.
Up to 150 people attended an IFA-organised meeting in Tuam’s Ard Rí Hotel last Wednesday evening, held in the face of the various factors hindering sheep farmers at present, relating to poor prices for their livestock, high input costs, a paltry wool market, and other concerns.
