Pillow production marks a new chapter in Dunblaney House
MICHAEL Burke does most of his work from Dunblaney House.
Dunblaney House is not a suite of offices in Galway city, but a farmhouse in an area of rolling topography in Dunmore.
It is where Michael lives with his family. It is where he runs his internationally acclaimed Woolow pillow company. It is also where he manages an organic farming operation, keeping sheep and suckler cows.
Indicators of the success of Michael’s wool enterprise are contained inside and outside Dunblaney House.
“I keep a mix of sheep breeds, Mules, Texels, and I’m involved in Galway Sheep. I bought the Galway Sheep I have off John Hegarty (Togher). They are lovely sheep.
“There’s about 4kg of wool on a Galway Sheep, and there’s about 2kg of Galway Sheep wool contained in this yarn,” explained Michael of the yarn which has been spun and he has in his home…
