It’s showtime in Glenamaddy

Song released at launch of agricultural show

SUNDAY week is the day of the Glenamaddy District Ploughing and Agricultural Show, and last Friday was its launch night.

The Glenamaddy Equestrian Centre (F45 VP66) is the venue for the show’s return on Sunday October 2, and it is also where the launch was held. Those in attendance on Friday were treated to a rendition of The Glenamaddy Show, a song composed by local man James Shevlin, and sung by Julie Healy.

“There was a great turnout. It all went well, we were very happy with it,” said Bernie Murray, Chairwoman of the Glenamaddy District Ploughing and Agricultural Show Committee.

“‘The Glenamaddy Show’ was performed on Friday by Julie Healy. Thanks to Joe Cunniffe and Tina Cleary for doing the sound checks and screens on the night.

“The song is number four on the Strabane Radio Airplay Chart and it has only been released one week. We are expecting it to go to number one. CDs of the song will be on sale on Sunday week for €5. It is a very catchy song.”
