Cannabis herb and plants seized in Milltown area
Divisional Drugs Unit discover €30,000 of drugs
AS PART of Operation Tara, Gardaí attached to the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit seized drugs worth in excess of €30,000 and arrested one man in the course of a search operation in the Milltown area yesterday (Tuesday).
Cannabis plants worth €22,000 and a quantity of Cannabis herb worth €11,000 was discovered during the search.
A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 for questioning at the North Western Regional HQ.
He has since been released without charge and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. The investigation is ongoing.
This latest discovery comes after in excess of €150,000 worth of cannabis was seized in the Cappataggle area on Sunday.
Gardaí carried out the search under warrant at a domestic residence and found Cannabis plants worth €144,000 and cannabis herb worth €6,600.
A 41-year-old Vietnamese man, named as Huy Van Ngo, was arrested at the scene in Eastwell and later taken to Galway Divisional Headquarters, where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The man was charged and has since appeared before Galway District Court (Monday) and Roscommon District Court (Tuesday).
All of the drugs seized will now be sent for further analysis. Investigations are ongoing.
