Ambassador’s visit adds vigour to revitalising Tuam twinning

German Ambassador receives warm welcome

IT’S meant to be broken – don’t fix it! That was the added message to a gift of a wooden broken wheel, a symbol of Tuam, as it was presented to the German Ambassador to Ireland when he visited the town last week.

Cord Meier-Klodt couldn’t have had a bluer sky above him as he strolled with town representatives along Straubing Street and enjoyed the warm March sunshine.

His visit was officially recorded into the local government history books as a special meeting of Tuam’s Municipal District Council was convened in his honour – but the tone of the visit was definitely more friendly than official.

He received a warm welcome to the town by Cathaoirleach of Tuam MDC Cllr Donagh Killilea, Director of Services with Galway County Council Derek Pender and Chair of the Straubing Twinning Committee Emily Reynolds.
