Burglary marks a low point in fight against crime
99-year-old Headford woman robbed as she slept
FEARS that a lack of Gardaí in Headford is leading to increased crime in the area have escalated following an attack on a 99-year-old woman living in the town.
Nora Gleeson lives within 50 metres of Headford Garda Station and was targeted by thieves last Wednesday evening after they broke into her home and stole a sum of money while she slept.
The incident has led to increased calls for more Gardaí to be deployed to the town, which currently is manned by members from Tuam Garda Station four days a week.
Local councillor Andrew Reddington said the attack on Mrs Gleeson had shocked the community and should be a wake-up call for senior Gardaí.
