Controversy reigns in Hyde Park

WHATEVER happened over the past few days, controversy seemed to rear its head at almost every high-profile sporting occasion.

For Mountbellew-Moylough, however, the conclusion to their narrow, 1-8 to 1-7, Connacht Senior Club semi-final defeat to Padraig Pearses will be discussed and debated for quite some time.

Mountbellew-Moylough manager Val Daly, despite clearly feeling aggrieved by some of the calls that went against his side, stressed there were “no sour grapes”.

“We want to hold our heads up high. We want to respect the situation. We want to respect the officials in the game because they have a tough job to do. We have to understand when they make a poor call, it’s tough to take. He’s made a poor call and he’ll have to live with it, and we have to live with it, big time.”
