HSE hope to keep bed losses at Tuam nursing home to a minimum
New regulations have put up to five beds at risk
THE HSE is attempting to minimise the number of beds being lost at Tuam’s public nursing home due to new regulations being enforced by HIQA from January.
Up to five beds are at risk of being closed at Aras Mhuire because the long-outdated building doesn’t have sufficient space.
A meeting of the West Region Health Forum heard yesterday (Tuesday) that new HIQA regulations along with staff shortages are forcing bed closures in many public nursing homes across Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.
