Paddling across the bay made big splash for Katie’s campaign
SOME large barrels, a few flowerpots and planks of wood all tied together with rope were teamed with strong arms and pure determination to ensure that a crew of North Galway men made the arduous journey across Galway Bay to help raise funds towards medical support for a young girl injured earlier this year.
Little three-year-old Katie Walsh from Ballyglunin had to have her left foot amputated after she was involved in a machinery accident at home. The outpouring of support from communities, businesses and sports groups has been overwhelming with thousands of euro raised to date.
A team of staff from Tuam company Doormotion braved the Atlantic waters on Sunday morning when they travelled via a home-made raft from Kinvara across to Salthill to help the Two Steps For Katie campaign.
