New album on the way from Aslan

WORKING class heroes Aslan make their way back to Monroes Live Venue, Galway on April 13 for a show in support of their new single and album. The latest single, which was released earlier this month, Too Late for Hallelujah is taken from the forthcoming album, Nudie Books & Frenchies. Written by Limerick man Don Mescall, Too Late for Hallelujah is a song that seems to fit Aslan like an old glove. It's an emotional and powerful ballad with a big chorus; an area in which Aslan are very comfortable and it was a good choice for a lead single. It's been a long and hard road for Aslan, who formed in 1982 and celebrate an amazing 30 years together this year. The quality and standard of their music has always remained high and Christy's voice is as sweet as ever. The band released their first record Feel No Shame in 1986, which went to No. 1 in Ireland and within a couple of months was certified Gold. As the second record was due to be recorded, the band infamously imploded due to over-indulgence of all kinds. It would be five years before the band members were to get their acts together and Aslan reformed in 1993, releasing their biggest hit to date Crazy World in the same year. Their second record, Goodbye Charlie Moonhead, was released the following year and charted at No.1 and went Gold just like its predecessor. In 1995, despite all their success they were dropped by their label BMG and made the decision to continue and release their music themselves. Since then the band have released four albums, a live DVD, sold out the Point Theatre and have toured extensively in Australia, America and the UK. To celebrate their 30 years together the band are putting on the first ever music event in Tallaght Stadium on June 30 and are bringing along The Kaiser Chiefs and Royseven for support on the day.
