Give a little bit more to Concern

TUAM Herald readers may have more power at their fingertips than they realise because, according to Concern, their signatures are worth a fortune. The international charity, which is dedicated to tackling poverty and suffering in the world's poorest countries, has just sent out a letter to those donors who have given €250 or more to Concern, over the course of a year, informing them that, if they pay PAYE, and have given the organisation that amount or more in any of the last four years, Concern can claim back money from Revenue on their donations, which bumps up the amount of money the charity receives to do its valuable work, and without costing the donor an extra cent. Concern says that a personal signature will help release much-needed funds for the work it is engaged in around the world. 'To release this additional funding for our life-saving work, we ask the donor to complete the tax form, which we have sent them in the post. We are not asking for a donation â€â€ just a signature. It's as simple as that. If everyone in Galway who has donated €250 or more to Concern signs the tax form we have sent them, then Concern can claim an additional minimum of €248,000 from Revenue,' Richard explains.
