ON Sunday night, the O’Rourkes from Tuam qualified for the semi-finals of Ireland’s Fittest Family in yet another nail-biting and edge of your seat episode of the highly popular RTÉ TV show.

Only a matter of seconds separated the fantastic four and their nearest rivals, the Bracken family from Meath who are mentored by former Cork camogie star Anna Geary. But for the second time running the O’Rourkes dug deep when the chips were down to pull off a hugely impressive performance in the Eliminator, booking their place in the last six of the families left in the competition.

The O’Rourkes are back on our screen again this Sunday, with both semi-finals being broadcast, moving away from last weekend’s Lake section and into the Swamp, which Dara jokes by saying he’s delighted to get away from the water even if this particular course involves “plenty of slogging”.
