Knockma extended trail opens
A SIX-YEAR dream will come to fruition on Bank Holiday Monday when the official opening of the extended walking trails at Knockma takes place.
The hill, seven miles from Tuam on the Headford road, in the parish of Caherlistrane, has been beloved of local people for many years.
When a Fas scheme succeeded in building a loop walk in the mid-1980s, the foundations were laid for Monday’s event.
That walk could only take in one side of the hill, and did not include the summit, which was on private land.
