All Ireland winning jersey ‘goes home’ to champion’s family
A QUARTER of a century after it was worn, an All-Ireland winning football jersey has been returned posthumously to the man who selflessly surrendered it within minutes of securing a senior colleges title for St Jarlath’s College, Tuam.
Eoin Burke, a native of Clonbur, passed away last November. A former boarder in St Jarlath’s, his death sent shockwaves throughout the north Galway region as the married father of four was only 53 when a car accident near Cornamona brought about his untimely death.
