Garda patrols and more checkpoints to deter illegal dumping

A PUBLIC meeting to address illegal dumping in the Abbeyknockmoy area has been told the village will be included as one of the litter black spots to be targeted by Garda patrols.
Up to 40 local people attended the meeting organised by Abbeyknockmoy Illegal Dumping Group on Monday evening with the majority signing up to a community text alert system on the issue.
Inspector Pat Flanagan told the meeting that staggered patrols were taking place in blackspots throughout the county and Abbeyknockmoy would be included in the initiative.
