Second hand dwight
After a lengthy hiatus from the recording scene the singer who many people say restarted the Country-Rock scene in the mid-1980s, Dwight Yoakan, is back restarting his recording career with a CD that is as diverse as Dwight has ever been, entitled Second Hand Heart.
Diversity could well be Dwight’s middle name and over the years he has meandered into many musical genres since he started out in the clubs of Los Angeles playing support to Rock acts such as The Blasters and Los Lobos who are best known for their far from Country sounding hit La Bamba.
Dwight then made hard-driving, yet Traditional-tinged Country sound cool to a younger generation when his album Guitars, Cadillacs etc. etc made him a major name on the scene back in 1986.
He revived the career of veteran Country singer Buck Owens who he idolised and even got old Buck to come out of retirement after they had a duet number one in 1988 with Streets of Bakersfield which Buck had initially popularised earlier in his career in 1973.
