OPW to meet with Tuam residents to discuss bypass flood solutions

A NEWLY built dam in the Gardenfield area has saved a number of houses from recent flooding which local people believe has been caused by the construction of the Tuam bypass.
The OPW built the embankment late last month following a rise in flood waters in the Ardacong area, adjacent to the new road.
However, the owners of the Ardacong estate, a former golf course that is now under several feet of water, say the road is one of the main factors in unprecedented flooding in the area.
Jim Hahessy said his family should have been contacted before the OPW works were undertaken.
