Tuam held off late Leitir Mor rally
TUAM STARS were put to the pin of their collar and faced a late onslaught from Naomh Anna, Leitir Móir before recording their second Group B win in Clonbur on Saturday.
The Stars came into this encounter having lost their opening game to All-Ireland champions Corofin, but they bounced back in their second outing defeating Annaghdown. Meanwhile, Leitir Mór shipped two heavy defeats to St James’ and Claregalway.
The 2012 runners-up got off to a good start as the ultra-consistent Jamie Murphy fired over a beauty of a score in the opening minute. However, three minutes later, Patrick Mark Ó Fátharta replied with a picturesque outside of the boot point from the left wing.
