Widespread sadness at death of auctioneering legend Pat Dermody

A MINUTE’S silence was observed at Tuam Mart on Monday as a mark of respect to Pat Dermody who died at his home in Kilconly on Sunday.
Pat was a very well-known and respected auctioneer for many years at Tuam and he also conducted sales at Headford, Ballinrobe and Balla marts during his career spanning half a century.
He died as a result of a farm accident which is being investigated by the Health and Safety Authority. Pat farmed as well as running his auctioneering business and estate agency and is described as a legend in the cattle trade throughout the West and the country.
Tuam Mart Manager Marian Devane said they were all greatly saddened at the news of Pat’s sudden death.
