Planning granted for new Athenry GRETB secondary school

PLANNING permission has been granted for the construction of a new school building for Coláiste an Chlairín in Athenry and the opening target date has been set for September 2019.

The secondary school, operated by the Galway Roscommon Education Training Board (GRETB), has been campaigning for many years for a larger building but finalising its location had proved problematic.
However, at the end of last year agreement was reached on a new site at Newford, Athenry, adjacent to Joyce's Supermarket.
