Headford's Mariah continues quest to be Voice of Ireland
THERE’S no rest for those pursuing success as Headford singer Mariah Butler is finding out in her quest to be The Voice of Ireland.
Having got the highest public vote on Sunday, the 22-year-old is back on stage and on screens this Sunday as she continues in the RTE One competition.
Mariah told The Herald it has been 'all go' since Sunday’s show, where she returned to her country roots by singing the Miranda Lambert song Mama’s Broken Heart.
'I haven’t even had a chance to look back on my performance, things have been so hectic,' she said.
'I was delighted that the public voted me through as I knew it was a risk being the one to open the show, that by the time the voting lines opened, they may not have remembered me. So I gave it my all and I was really happy with the judges’ scores and comments.
Mariah, who was up against Ballinasloe singer Emma Walsh and Peter Whitford from Bray, outscored both by two points, and received high praise from all four judges.
