End of an era - final meeting of Tuam Town Council
IT will be an emotional evening for those at Tuam's Town Hall this evening (Monday) where the final meeting of the Town Council will take place.
Chairing the meeting will be Mayor Imelda Kelly's last official function as Mayor as Tuam becomes one of the 75 town councils throughout the country being abolished after the local elections.
Last year, the council celebrated the 400th anniversary of the town being granted a charter by King James.
Cllr Kelly, who was co-opted on to the council eight years ago following the death of her father Miko, says the end of local representation is a sad day for Tuam.
We'll have full coverage of the event coming up in Wednesday's paper.
