Schools to lose teachers are named

RURAL schools across Galway and Mayo which are losing teachers as highlighted in The Tuam Herald last week, have been named following a Dail Question by Deputy Eamon O Cuiv.

The loss of a classroom post for the 2014-15 school year in those small primary schools is a result of the increased pupil thresholds announced in Budget 2012.

Nationwide, 39 schools will lose a teacher, and the greater number is along the Galway-Mayo border.
