This was the message conveyed to members of Galway Co Council this week when preliminary details of the Galway section of the planned Dublin to Galway Greenway were outlined.
However, several members expressed scepticism over whether enough landowners would consent to allowing the trail run through their property without a financial consideration.
Warnings were sounded that if compensation was being paid to landowners along the Galway-Clifden Greenway, which is at the planning stage, then their counterparts in the east of the county might not be so amenable to providing access.
