Uninspired galway exit league in waterford
Waterford 0-20
Galway 0-12
IT was the tamest of tame exits by Galway’s hurlers in this year’s National League campaign.
A trip to Walsh Park always looked the toughest assignment among all the Division 1A counties in last weekend’s quarter-finals, and results bore that out as Waterford ran out the most comfortable of winners in their own backyard against a desperately disappointing Galway effort.
Waterford manager Derek McGrath has gone with a mainly new-look side sprinkled with a some older, more experienced hands like Kevin Moran and Michael 'Brick’ Walsh.
Most significantly of all, the De La Salle clubman has implemented a defensive game-plan that, so far, has proved ultra-effective in both sealing the Deise’s return to the league’s top flight and advancing to a semi-final meeting with competition favourites, Tipperary.
