Father and daughter flying fit after kidney transplant

The kidney transplant took place on June 19 in Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital. Christy and Christine were both on the operating table for roughly seven hours apiece, and while there was always a risk that Christine’s body might reject the new kidney, that hasn’t proven to be the case.
Christy was discharged on Saturday, June 24, but waited on in hospital until Christine was deemed fully fit to leave on Friday June 30.
The process had all started when Christine was doing her Junior Cert exams in 2015. What the family thought might have been a cold a week before the exams, proved far more serious once Christine’s mother Monica brought her to their local doctor.
Christine was diagnosed with renal failure a day after her Junior Cert history exam.
