Widespread sadness at death of former Kilconly PP Fr Michael Kenny
PARISHIONERS throughout several rural communities in the West are mourning the loss of popular priest Fr Michael (Mick) Kenny who died suddenly in recent days while out for his regular walk with his dog Shep.
As a sign of his esteem for his former Kilconly parish, Fr Kenny left instructions in his will that his funeral Mass be held there. The day and time of the funeral will be announced in the coming days.
His friend and colleague Fr Stephen Farragher told The Herald that Fr Kenny always spoke fondly of his time in Belclare and although he was in declining health during his later years as PP in Kilconly, Fr Farragher knew he enjoyed his time in the parish and made many friends here.
Fr Kenny only retired to his native Ballyhaunis in 2018 after serving as parish priest in Kilconly.
