Moylough businesswoman wins two national awards
A Moylough-based businesswoman has secured two national awards for her work in the Irish wedding industry.
Fiona Newell runs an event company that specialises in elevating the beauty and experience of weddings and other special occasions for customers across the country.
Fiona Newell Events won Wedding Specialist Supplier of the Year at the Irish Wedding Awards. The black-tie event, which was held in the Crown Plaza Hotel in Dublin, is a highly respected honour celebrating the top performers in the Irish wedding industry.
Her second accolade came a few days later at the WeddingSuppliers.ie Awards which were held in the Johnstown Estate Hotel in Meath. Here, her company took home the Sweet Treat Supplier of the Year award.
“This award is a testament to our hard work and dedication over the past 17 years,” stated Newell, who founded her company back in 2008 having returned to Galway after several years working in the wedding industry in England and Scotland.
“We are honoured to receive this recognition. I feel very lucky to do what I love every day and call it my profession.”
Fiona has built up almost three decades of experience working in the events sector since graduating from GMIT in 1991 with a degree in Hotel Management.
Having started by just renting out a chocolate fountain for weddings, her company has grown to provide much more, such as stunning décor for the church and hotel reception, alongside stylish photobooths which can add an extra layer of excitement to any event.
Fiona was among four distinguished Galway businesswomen recognised at the WeddingSuppliers.ie Awards in Meath.
Nicola McGuire won Ceremony Singer of the Year, Angela Farragher was named Photographer of the Year, and Edith Kovacs from Athenry Candles took home the Personalised Items Supplier of the Year award.
Meanwhile, at the Irish Wedding Awards there was also success for Galway’s Aidan Connaughton who won the award for wedding DJ of the Year.
