VOLUNTEERS with Tuam Lions Club and St Vincent de Paul are preparing to help those less fortunate through their annual Christmas Food Appeal.

The tradition has been helping the club give back to the community for nearly 40 years and continues to be a hugely successful and important ways of supporting people and families in the area.

Volunteers from Tuam Lions club, local sports groups and the public will be working together to collect donations at three collection points in the town centre – O’ Toole’s SuperValu, Tuam Shopping Centre and Centra Dublin Road.

Members of the community are encouraged to make food or cash/card donations. For the first time, thanks to the support of local company iDonate, a card payment facility will be available at all locations, to ensure everyone has a convenient way to contribute.

More than 160 volunteers are involved in manning the collections points for six days and the appeal got off to a good start at the weekend. They continue from this weekend, up to Christmas EVe, Tuesday, December 24. Donations can be made between 10am and 8pm on all days, except Christmas Eve when it will be between 10am and 4pm.
