Closed beds new nursing home may open before year end

THE new multi-million Community Nursing Unit in Tuam may become fully operational before the end of the year.
Half of the beds at the €25 million Joe and Helen O’Toole CNU remain closed, despite the facility being officially opened earlier this year.
There are 50 beds at the CNU on the Purcell Road but 25 of those located on the second floor have never been used as HIQA had sought changes in order to meet their requirements.
