‘Lock up and light up’ is advice from Galway’s new Crime Prevention Officer

THE brief of a Crime Prevention Officer (CPO) is a varied one, especially in a county the size of Galway.

Olivia Fleming recently took up the position of CPO for the Galway Garda Division on a full-time basis following the retirement of Sgt Mick Walsh. This saw Sgt Fleming moving from her post in Mountbellew Garda Station to the North Western Regional Headquarters in Renmore, in Galway city.

“Mick first came into the job in 2018. He was extremely innovative in his role. I’ll be striving to continue on with the work he did,” said Sgt Olivia Fleming, daughter of Pat and Margaret Fleming from Cortoon.
