‘Farming is simple when the sun is shining’
Billy took over the farm when he was just a teenager
THE green grass in the Cortoon fields of the Drystock Grassland Farmer of the Year proved an attraction for many last week.
The weather had thankfully cleared by the time Billy Gilmore hosted a farm walk on his land last Tuesday evening, attended by local farmers and other interested patrons such as Daire Cregg, an excellent young footballer with Roscommon as well as a drystock farmer from Boyle.
Billy received his prize at the Grass10 Sustainable Grassland Farmer of the Year Awards in April and having the farm walk was one of the offshoots of this.
