A show 120 years old for all ages

ONE of the photographs used to launch this year’s 120th Mountbellew Agricultural Show is unique in and of themselves.

Nine people are pictured sitting in the stand at the Mountbellew-Moylough GAA Grounds, each representing an age grade in blocks of ten, the youngest being seven-year-old Harry Connaughton. Harry is the grandson of Paul Connaughton Senior, a man who has been involved with the Mountbellew Agricultural Show for many decade.

The idea behind the collective image is that it outlines the people, or a member of their family, who have helped foster and run the show in Mountbellew since its inception 120 years ago.
