Teen’s dream of Tuam Dog Park to come true

Funding of over €70,000 awarded

A 14-year-old girl’s dream for Tuam's first-ever Dog Park has taken a taken a significant step towards becoming a reality after the project secured €74,000 in national funding.

Nicola Riedinger, a second-year student at Archbishop McHale College, began her campaign last year collecting names for a petition. Her proposal impressed Galway County Council engineers and the teenager was invited to make a presentation at a Tuam District meeting that left the councillors under no doubt that this was a project worth pursuing. An application for funding was made under the Community Recognition Fund.

The funding application has been successful with monies confirmed towards the development of both a Dog Park and Sensory Garden in Tuam.

“She is ecstatic right now,” Nicolas’ mother Silvia told The Tuam Herald.
