Homecoming plans for Galway footballers

Events in Tuam and Pearse Stadium

GALWAY County and City Councils along with Galway GAA will host homecoming events for Galway’s footballers in Tuam and Pearse Stadium this afternoon.

Gates at Tuam Stadium will open from 2pm with the Galway team expected to arrive between 3.30 and 4pm.

Despite the heartbreaking defeat to Armagh in yesterday's All-Ireland final, thousands of supporters are expected to attend the events to show their appreciation of the team and management.

In Pearse Stadium, gates open at 5pm with the team expected to arrive at 6pm.

Road closures will be in place on all approaches to Tuam and to Pearse Stadium and patrons are asked to park in council car parks and proceed on foot.

Free parking will be available at City and County Council car parks for the event.

Members of the public attending the event are requested to comply with instructions or guidance provided by stewards, security and members of An Garda Síochána.
