How a son of Lackagh brought thousands to hear him preach

TIMOTHY Rabbitt from Grange, Lackagh, aged 26, spoke hardly any English when he knocked on the door of the Cistercian abbey in Roscrea, Co Tipperary and asked to be admitted.

Few would have predicted that within a few years he would be preaching sermons in both English and Irish that drew thousands to hear them, including a future President of Ireland.

Read the story in this week's edition of The Tuam Herald of how his sermons have now been preserved and recently donated to Lackagh Museum
