Abbey keeps the party going
Ruaile Buaile and All Folk’d Up for music festival this weekend
ST PATRICK’S Day might be gone but the party is far from over in Abbeyknockmoy which is hosting its inaugural Music Festival this weekend.
Hundreds of people are set to throng the marquee at O’Donohoe’s Bar in the village on March 22 and 23, when top acts Ruaile Buaile and All Folk’d Up will perform.
The weekend event follows on from the very successful fundraising weekend last year, when huge crowds turned out for The Tumbling Paddies and The Whistlin Donkeys.
This weekend’s festival is the last big push in terms of fundraising for the Abbeyknockmoy Hurling Club before they get to work on a major redevelopment of their playing facilities.
Like many other sports clubs in North Galway, the weather has had a serious impact on training and play. Secretary of the Club Brian Melia told The Tuam Herald that they have been fundraising hard for the past two years and they hope this event will get the final monies needed to get works started.
The plan is to nearly double the size of their existing astro pitch and to carry out significant drainage works on their main playing field.
