Woman dies in Milltown crash
Van driver suffered serious injuries
GARDAI have confirmed that a woman in her 80s has died following a three-vehicle collision in Milltown this morning (Tuesday).
The crash happened on the N17 at Gortnagunned on the Ballindine side of Milltown shortly after 10am.
The woman who died was a passenger in one of the cars. The female driver of the same car, aged in her 40s, was taken to University Hospital Galway where she is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The male driver of the van, who is in his 50s, was brought to UHG with serious injuries.
A technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators is ongoing and Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.
A section of the N17 at Milltown was closed to traffic for most of the day and evening.
Gardai are asking any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N17 at Gortnagunned, Milltown, Galway between 9.30am and 10am this morning (Tuesday) to make this footage available to Gardaí.

MAN INJURED IN WORK INCIDENT
Meanwhile, Gardai and the Emergency Services were also called to a serious incident at a private residence in the Cortoon area this morning.
A man in his 60s was seriously injured in what gardai describe as a “work-place incident”.
The man sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to University Hospital Galway for treatment.
