West Awake has to wait another year

No gigs in Tuam in 2024

THE Saw Doctors have confirmed that they won’t perform a West Awake gig in Tuam next year, but assure fans that they have big plans for 2025.

Thousands of people flocked to Tuam in August for two sold-out concerts by the band on the grounds of St Jarlath’s College.

The concerts spurred an entire weekend festival in the town, featuring a range of exhibitions, music performances and plenty of craic.

The band had initially hoped to hold a bigger event in 2024, catering for 10,000 tickets each night. However, a domino effect of other concerts in Ireland next year has resulted in West Awake 2024 not being possible.

It means that the two concerts during next year’s Galway Arts Festival in the Big Top will be the only Galway gigs for the much-loved band next year. The first date of July 27 quickly sold out and a second date of July 28 was announced and went on sale this morning (Wednesday)…
