Communities urged to revive alert schemes
Gardai investigating several burglaries in the region
THE burglaries of a primary school and a community centre in Headford last week highlight how criminals are not just targeting houses as the evenings draw in.
Community alert schemes throughout the county are being encouraged to revive interest and activity in the schemes ahead of a tradtional rise in the number of burglaries during the darker months.
Small amounts of cash were taken from both Knockroon NS (Scoil Naomh Padraig) and Cloghanover Community Centre between the hours of 10.30pm on Wednesday September 27, and 8am the following morning. Entry to both properties was gained via rear windows.
Days later, houses in Menlough and Woodlawn were broken into.
