Multiple media award nominations for The Tuam Herald

THE Tuam Herald has received multiple nominations for the annual Local Ireland Media Awards, with staff photographer Ray Ryan once again shortlisted in the ‘Best Photograph’ section of the competition, which recognises the best in the industry.

Ray, who was nominated last year for his 2021 picture ‘One man and his dog’, will be hoping to go one step further with his photograph, ‘Sweet Success’, which was taken at Pearse Stadium in May, 2022.

It shows Galway forward Conor Cooney winking as he is offered the last sweet from a box of chocolates by a supporter after he scored the winning point against arch rivals Kilkenny in the Leinster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, while he signed autographs on hurley sticks for fans.

The other nominees in this category are Joe O’Shaughnessy of The Connacht Tribune, Lorraine Teevan of The Anglo-Celt, and last year’s winner, John Kelly of The Clare Champion…
