The West Awake

Live music, art, drums and even an aul cuppa!

ORGANISERS of the community festival around the West Awake concerts have been “blown away” with response from the community, businesses and participants.

An array of live performances, workshops, exhibitions and creative events take place in several venues throughout the town from Friday until Sunday as part of the weekend festival feeling.

The Shambles carpark is being transformed into a pop-up live music venue for the weekend while the Town Hall will have a variety of events on both floors.

Short films made by local students and film-makers will be screened at different times at The Mall Theatre while there will also be an outdoor theatre spectacle to enjoy.

The popular craft fair is setting up for three days – Friday, Saturday and Sunday – around The Old Mill, off Shop Street, with huge interest from exhibitors.

Visitors can meander through the stalls of local artists and producers between 3-7pm on Friday, and between 11-4pm on Saturday and Sunday. There will also be a Tuamóg creativity area at the fair on Saturday with free art and craft making for children…
