First ever Biodiversity Officer for county is a ‘milestone’
Funding for 11 projects to enhance and protect natural heritage
GALWAY County Council has appointed first-ever Biodiversity Officer, a ground-breaking initiative aimed at preserving and enhancing the natural heritage of the county.
Taking up the role, is a familiar face to people in Tuam and North Galway – Rosina Joyce.
In her new role, Rosina will collaborate closely with local communities, environmental organisations and government agencies to develop and implement strategies for biodiversity conservation.
Rosina’s past 15 years’ experience in environmental enforcement and biodiversity project management, has given her an excellent understanding of the challenges and opportunities in creating awareness, managing and protecting biodiversity in the county.
