Lola’s work continues to Marvel
Singer Sia among those to purchase Tuam artist's work
CREATIVE Places Tuam is honoured to spotlight artists across Tuam each month in The Tuam Herald. This month we invited local artist Lola Donoghue to chat with us about her work.
Lola Donoghue is a visual artist based in Galway. After graduating from Limerick School of Art and Design with First Class Honours in both her B.A. in Fine Art and her post-graduate diploma in Art and Design Education, she taught Art in St Colman’s College, Claremorris, before returning full-time to her own professional practice.
Her work is held in private collections all over the world and has featured in a number of Marvel series while singer Sia owns four Lola Donoghue originals.
How long have you considered yourself an artist?
Well, after teaching for almost ten years, I realised that I had put down my own paintbrush somewhere along the way, I didn’t have my own creative practice outside of teaching, I had stopped feeling like an artist.
This prompted me to get back into the studio and start painting again, which led to a career break to focus on my own art…
