Posters and flags not in keeping with environmental obligations
NEW guidelines to restrict the location and volume of election posters are being sought a year out from the local elections by a Tuam councillor who says the public have been ‘crying out’ for tighter restrictions on the issue.
Independent Councillor Karey McHugh, who will not stand for re-election to Galway County Council in next year’s contest, is to propose a motion at the March plenary meeting seeking a new range of by-laws and protocols for the display and erection of election posters for all future elections and referenda campaigns.
